The journey gradually takes you away from the urban surroundings of Guwahati and into the greener and more elevated landscapes of Meghalaya. The changing scenery provides your first introduction to the distinctive character of the region.
En route, stop at Umiam Lake, also known as Barapani, a beautiful scenic lake surrounded by green hills. The peaceful waters and surrounding landscape create a refreshing first experience of Meghalaya's natural beauty. Spend some time enjoying the scenery

Begin exploring the Cherrapunjee region with a visit to Wei Sawdong Falls, surrounded by the lush natural environment of Sohra. Spend time appreciating the natural scenery around Cherrapunjee, where green hills, valleys and waterfalls form the defining character of the region.
Depending on the agreed sightseeing plan, part or all of the day may be kept at leisure. This provides time to relax at the hotel, enjoy the surrounding landscape or simply slow down and appreciate the peaceful hill environment.
Cherrapunjee to Guwahati | Departure
After breakfast, check out from your Cherrapunjee hotel and begin the approximately 150-kilometre journey towards Guwahati. The drive takes around 5 hours and gradually transitions from the green hills of Meghalaya towards the plains of Assam.
Depending on your departure schedule, and if time permits, visit Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati. The temple provides an optional spiritual experience before the conclusion of your journey.
After the optional temple visit, or directly after reaching Guwahati depending on your departure schedule, proceed to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey. Your private vehicle will provide the final transfer according to the confirmed schedule.
