Day-by-Day Travel Itinerary
Guwahati to Shillong
Your Northeast adventure begins in Guwahati, where you will meet your driver and board your private Non-AC Sedan. From the plains of Assam, the journey gradually takes you towards the greener and more elevated landscapes of Meghalaya. The changing scenery along the route introduces you to the natural character of the region even before you arrive in Shillong.
En route to Shillong, stop at Umiam Lake / Barapani, a beautiful scenic lake surrounded by green hills. The peaceful lake landscape makes this an excellent first introduction to Meghalaya's natural beauty. Spend some time enjoying the surroundings and taking photographs.
Continue towards Shillong and proceed to the selected hotel on arrival. After completing check-in, take time to settle into your room and relax following the journey. The evening is deliberately kept free, allowing you to enjoy the peaceful hill-station atmosphere.
Mawlynnong & Dawki Excursion
Begin today's excursion with a journey towards Mawlynnong, known for its greenery, clean surroundings and peaceful village atmosphere. The destination offers a different perspective of Meghalaya compared with Shillong, with the experience centred around its natural surroundings and village character.
Continue towards Dawki, located near the India–Bangladesh border. The road journey is itself an enjoyable part of the day as the surrounding landscapes continue to showcase Meghalaya's green and scenic character. As you approach Dawki, the focus of the journey gradually shifts towards the beautiful Umngot River.
Spend time around the Umngot River, famous for its crystal-clear waters. The river landscape creates one of the most visually striking experiences of the Meghalaya itinerary. Guests can enjoy the scenery, photography and peaceful surroundings.
Guests may enjoy optional boating at Dawki, subject to availability, river conditions and local operating requirements.
After completing the excursion, begin the return journey towards Shillong. After a full day of exploring Meghalaya's village and river landscapes, the evening is kept free for rest and relaxation at the hotel.
Cherrapunjee Excursion
Begin the journey towards Cherrapunjee with sightseeing stops at Shillong Peak and Elephant Falls, subject to the sightseeing route and available time. These attractions offer an opportunity to experience the natural surroundings around Shillong before continuing towards Sohra.
Continue towards Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, a region known for its dramatic landscapes, waterfalls and caves. The journey through the green hills is an important part of today's experience, with the scenery changing as you move deeper into the region.
Explore Mawsmai Cave, adding a natural cave experience to the day's itinerary. The cave provides a contrast to the open landscapes and waterfalls visited during the day.
Visit Seven Sisters Waterfalls, another important scenic attraction of Sohra. The surrounding green hills and waterfall landscape provide excellent opportunities for photography and quiet appreciation of Meghalaya's natural beauty.
After completing the Cherrapunjee sightseeing, begin the journey back to Shillong. After a full day of road travel and sightseeing, return to the hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening.
Shillong to Kaziranga
After breakfast, complete your check-out and begin the journey from Shillong towards Kaziranga National Park. Today's route provides a noticeable change in landscape as you move away from Meghalaya's hills and towards Assam. The scenic road journey allows you to experience the changing geography of the Northeast while travelling towards one of Assam's best-known wildlife destinations.
On arrival in Kaziranga, proceed to your selected wildlife resort and complete check-in. Take time to settle in and relax after the journey. The resort environment provides a peaceful setting where you can rest.
The evening remains free for leisure. Instead of adding another long sightseeing schedule after the road journey, the itinerary allows guests to relax and prepare for the early start required for the next day's safari activities.
Kaziranga Wildlife Safaris
Begin the day early with an Elephant Safari, subject to availability, forest department regulations and safari permit allocation. The safari is an additional-cost experience and is not included in the package price. The early morning setting provides an opportunity to explore the permitted safari environment, although the exact experience, route and availability are determined by the applicable forest and safari authorities.
After the morning safari, return to the resort for breakfast and relaxation. The break provides time to rest after the early start and prepare for the later Jeep Safari. Guests can enjoy the resort surroundings during this period before heading back into the designated safari zone.
Later, proceed for a Jeep Safari through the designated safari zone. This experience provides an opportunity to explore the wildlife and birdlife of Kaziranga while travelling through the permitted area.
Kaziranga is highlighted in the itinerary for its population of the One-Horned Rhinoceros, along with its wider wildlife and birdlife environment. However, the itinerary does not guarantee sightings of any particular species. The safari experience is primarily about entering the permitted natural environment and observing whatever wildlife and landscape conditions present themselves during the visit.
After the Jeep Safari, return to the resort and enjoy a relaxed evening. The remainder of the day is free for rest following the early morning start and the outdoor safari experiences.
Kaziranga to Guwahati
After breakfast, check out from your wildlife resort and begin the journey towards Guwahati. The route provides a gradual transition from Kaziranga's wildlife environment to the urban setting of Guwahati. After several days of hills, waterfalls and wildlife, today's road journey gives you time to relax while continuing through Assam's changing landscapes.
On arrival in Guwahati, proceed to your selected hotel and complete check-in. Take time to refresh and relax after the road journey. The afternoon remains relatively open.
In the evening, guests may enjoy an optional Brahmaputra River Cruise, subject to weather conditions, river conditions and operational availability. The cruise offers an opportunity to experience the Brahmaputra from a different perspective and provides a scenic way to spend the final evening of the tour.
Kamakhya Temple & Guwahati Departure
If your departure schedule allows, visit the sacred Kamakhya Temple before leaving Guwahati. The temple provides a spiritual dimension to the final morning and offers a fitting conclusion to a journey that has covered Meghalaya's natural landscapes and Assam's wildlife and river experiences.
After the optional temple visit, or directly from the hotel depending on your departure schedule, proceed by private vehicle to Guwahati Airport or Railway Station.
