Frequently Asked Questions About Madhya Pradesh

Answers to key traveller questions on seasons, itineraries, houseboats, costs and local tips.

October to March is the peak travel season with cool, pleasant weather ideal for both heritage exploration and wildlife safaris. For serious tiger photographers, April and May offer the highest sighting probabilities around waterholes.
Bandhavgarh National Park has the world's highest density of Bengal tigers, making sightings very frequent. Kanha National Park offers scenic expansive meadows and classic Kipling landscapes, while Pench is famous for dense teak forests.
Core safari permits for Bandhavgarh and Kanha (especially Tala and Kanha zones) are strictly limited and open 120 days in advance. We strongly recommend booking your safari package 60 to 90 days ahead, especially for weekends and holidays.
For a heritage trip (Khajuraho, Orchha, Gwalior), 4 to 5 days are recommended. For a dedicated tiger safari tour (Bandhavgarh + Kanha), 5 to 6 days are ideal. For a combined grand circuit, plan 8 to 10 days.
Bhasma Aarti takes place between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM. Advance online registration via the official temple portal or VIP pass booking is required. Traditional dress is strictly mandatory: traditional dhoti/kurta for men and saree for women.
The three destinations form a scenic heritage circuit easily covered by private cab. Orchha to Jhansi is 15 km, Jhansi to Gwalior is 100 km (2 hours by road or 1 hour by Shatabdi/Vande Bharat), and Orchha to Khajuraho is 170 km (3.5 hours by road).
Yes, Madhya Pradesh is exceptionally hospitable and safe. Major tourist destinations like Khajuraho, Pachmarhi, Bhopal, and Indore have tourist police kiosks, clean infrastructure, and welcoming locals.
Yes! One of MP’s most popular itineraries is the "Tiger & Temple Trail": Fly into Khajuraho (explore temples & Orchha), drive to Bandhavgarh for 2 days of tiger safaris, visit Bhedaghat marble rocks at Jabalpur, and fly out from Jabalpur.
